How to stream as an anime character on Twitch

Transform into any anime character in real-time while streaming — no Live2D rigging, no face tracking calibration, no expensive avatar commissions. Just a reference image and MorphMe Live.

VTubing traditionally requires a rigged Live2D avatar, face tracking software, and hours of calibration. MorphMe Live takes a different approach — it uses real-time AI to transform your live webcam feed into any anime character, fullbody, without any rigging.

What you'll need

  • A Windows 10+ PC (no gaming GPU required — AI runs in the cloud)
  • A webcam
  • A stable internet connection
  • OBS Studio (free) — obsproject.com
  • MorphMe Live — download here
  • A Twitch account with a stream key
  • (Optional) An anime character reference image

Step 1: Download & install MorphMe Live

Grab the free installer from morphmelive.com. Installation takes under a minute. On first launch you'll create a free account and see the main dashboard.

Step 2: Pick an anime character

MorphMe Live ships with built-in anime character presets. You can also import any reference image — an official anime screenshot, your OC, or AI-generated art. For best results, use a clear front-facing image with the full upper body visible. Add an optional text prompt (e.g. "bright anime style, vivid colors") to fine-tune the transformation.

Step 3: Start the stream server

Click Start in MorphMe. The app connects to Decart Lucy 2 via WebRTC and starts transforming your webcam feed. On the right side of the app, you'll see the MJPEG stream URL (typically http://localhost:PORT/stream). Copy it.

Step 4: Add MorphMe to OBS Studio

Open OBS Studio and create a new scene. In the Sources panel, click + and add a Browser Source. Configure it like this:

  • URL: Paste the MJPEG stream URL from MorphMe
  • Width: 1280
  • Height: 720
  • Custom CSS: Leave blank
  • Uncheck "Shutdown source when not visible"

Click OK. Your anime character feed should appear in the OBS preview.

Step 5: Configure Twitch & go live

In OBS, go to Settings → Stream. Select Twitch as the service and paste your stream key (find it at dashboard.twitch.tv). Click Start Streaming. You're now live on Twitch as an anime character.

Tips for the best results

  • Use a well-lit room — the AI tracks your motion better with good lighting
  • Wear a plain background if possible to help the AI focus on you
  • Switch characters on the fly using MorphMe's character panel — no reconnect needed
  • Use the Popout Window to keep a small preview on top of other apps while you stream
